colorimeter
colorimeter (In French colorimètre) 1) Triple-range measuring device, i.e. a colorimetric measuring instrument which works with a measuring filter characteristic which corresponds to the three standard spectral value curves x(λ), y(λ), z(λ), whereby x(λ) usually has to be implemented with 2 filters. Ideal device class for measuring monitors, e.g. the hardware calibration and validation of wide-gamut monitors, whereby the basICColor Discus is the only colorimeter that can also perform tele-measurements from the typical practical viewing distance. The suitability for monitors (self-luminant bodies) results from the continuous coverage of the spectrum thanks to the filter and from the noise-free measuring of dark luminescent colors. 2) Measuring device for determining the color intensity of liquids as a measure of the concentration of a chemical solution. 3) Measuring device for the astronomical determination and classification of self-luminant celestial bodies in temperature-volume classes, e.g. “yellow giants”, “blue dwarfs”.
