color ordering system (In French nuancier, système de classification des couleurs) usually perceptually equidistant color specimen plates in which the individual hues are ordered according to intuitive attributes: proceeding from the lightness axis with growing chromaticness, each plate corresponds to a chromaticity type or hue family. Examples: Munsell Book of Colors, Ostwald’s double cone.
